Taking the Gospel Beyond the Church Walls
Jesus commanded His followers to go into the world and proclaim the gospel. Street Team exists to put that calling into practice by bringing the message of Jesus Christ directly into our communities.
Through personal conversations, public outreach, prayer, and intentional engagement, we seek to reach people who may never walk into a church, attend a Bible study, or otherwise encounter someone willing to share the gospel with them.
Our mission is to make Christ known, helping people understand the good news of salvation and connecting those who respond with opportunities for continued discipleship and Christian fellowship.
What Is A Street Team?
A Street Team is an evangelism and outreach initiative within The Ministry’s Gospel Encounters pillar.
Our volunteers engage people in everyday public spaces, including neighborhoods, parks, community gatherings, and other places where opportunities for meaningful conversations exist.
We believe evangelism should be rooted in Scripture and carried out with humility, compassion, and a genuine concern for others.
Our approach emphasizes personal engagement. We want to listen to people’s questions, understand their perspectives, and communicate the gospel clearly without pressuring anyone into a conversation.
Preparing to Share the Gospel
Sharing our faith can feel intimidating, particularly for believers who have never participated in evangelism.
Street Teams provide opportunities to learn, prepare, and grow in confidence through biblical instruction, prayer, practical training, and encouragement from other believers.
Participants learn how to explain the gospel, respond to common questions, share their personal testimonies, and engage respectfully with people from different backgrounds and beliefs.
Experience isn’t a prerequisite. A willingness to learn, serve, and faithfully represent Christ is where participation begins.
What Outreach Looks Like
Street Team’s organizes opportunities for believers to participate in gospel-centered outreach throughout their communities.
Depending on the setting, outreach may include personal conversations, offering prayer, distributing Scripture and gospel resources, responding to questions about Christianity, and helping interested individuals connect with local churches.
Our goal is not simply to have a conversation and move on. When someone expresses a desire to learn more, we want to help them take meaningful next steps through continued conversations, biblical resources, and connections to a local church.
We recognize that every encounter is different. Some conversations may be brief. Others may develop into ongoing relationships. We approach each opportunity with patience and respect, trusting God to work through the faithful proclamation of His Word.
Working Alongside Local Churches
Street teams are not intended to operate independently of the local church.
We seek to partner with churches to equip believers for evangelism, organize outreach opportunities, and help people who respond to the gospel become connected to a biblical church community.
Our desire is to strengthen the Church’s witness by helping more believers participate in the Great Commission within their own neighborhoods and communities.
Our Responsibility Is Faithfulness
We believe salvation belongs to the Lord. No amount of preparation, persuasion, or outreach activity can produce genuine faith apart from God’s work.
Our responsibility is to communicate the gospel faithfully, answer questions truthfully, and demonstrate the love of Christ in our interactions.
As Paul wrote:
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.” 1 Corinthians 3:6 (ESV)
We go because Christ has commanded us to go, and we trust Him with the results.
