Faithful Discipline

Living Out Our Faith Through Obedience, Stewardship, and Perseverance

Following Jesus Christ involves more than understanding what we believe. We are called to put that understanding into practice, allowing God’s Word to shape our decisions, habits, relationships, and responsibilities.

At The Ministry, we believe Faithful Discipline is an important part of Christian discipleship. It reflects our commitment to live according to Scripture, remain steadfast through life’s challenges, and faithfully steward the time, abilities, and opportunities God has entrusted to us.

We recognize that discipline is not simply about developing better habits or accomplishing personal goals. It is about learning to live faithfully before God, allowing our understanding of His Word to influence how we approach everyday life.

Practicing What We Believe

Scripture calls believers to pursue godliness, resist temptation, persevere through difficulties, and grow in obedience to Christ.

These things require intentionality. While our salvation is not earned through works, our faith should increasingly become evident in how we live.

Paul encourages Timothy:

“Rather train yourself for godliness.” 1 Timothy 4:7 (ESV)

This pursuit involves more than establishing routines. It requires humility, repentance, self-control, and a willingness to follow God’s Word even when obedience is difficult.

We also recognize that spiritual growth is not something we accomplish through determination alone. God works within believers through His Spirit, shaping our desires and enabling us to live according to His will.

Faithful Discipline is therefore not an effort to earn God’s approval, but a response to the grace we have already received through Jesus Christ.

Stewardship in Everyday Life

God has entrusted each of us with different abilities, responsibilities, relationships, and opportunities. Faithful stewardship involves considering how we use what we have been given.

This includes how we care for our physical health, manage our time, develop practical skills, serve others, and approach the responsibilities of everyday life.

We believe these pursuits have genuine value. Learning a new skill, maintaining our health, developing consistency, or becoming better prepared for life’s challenges can help us fulfill our responsibilities and serve those around us.

However, we don’t equate physical strength, productivity, or personal accomplishment with spiritual maturity.

Our desire is to encourage believers to approach these areas of life with wisdom and gratitude, recognizing that everything we have ultimately belongs to God.

Perseverance Through Changing Circumstances

Faithfulness isn’t always easy. Life brings unexpected challenges, competing responsibilities, difficult decisions, and seasons when obedience requires sacrifice.

Scripture encourages believers to remain steadfast, trusting in God’s faithfulness rather than relying entirely on their own strength.

We recognize that perseverance doesn’t mean pretending to be strong in every circumstance. There are times when faithfulness involves acknowledging our limitations, seeking help, receiving correction, or learning to depend more fully on God.

Through prayer, Scripture, and encouragement from other believers, we can continue growing in our understanding of what it means to follow Christ through different seasons of life.

Faithful Discipline Within The Ministry

Faithful Discipline is one of The Ministry’s four pillars, encouraging believers to apply biblical principles through practical experiences, intentional habits, and opportunities for service.

Through Formation Groups such as Faith + Fitness and The Readiness Project, participants can develop practical abilities, pursue personal goals, and learn alongside others within a Christian community.

Faith + Fitness encourages responsible physical stewardship through exercise, consistency, biblical encouragement, and fellowship.

The Readiness Project provides opportunities for women to develop practical skills, approach unfamiliar challenges, and become better equipped for everyday responsibilities.

While these groups emphasize different activities, both create opportunities to practice stewardship, develop meaningful relationships, and consider how our faith shapes the way we live.

We also recognize that faithful discipline extends throughout the Christian life, influencing our participation in Scripture, prayer, fellowship, service, and evangelism.
